Frequently Asked Questions

What liquids do MOS universal sorbents handle?
MOS is a universal sorbent covering oils, water-based liquids, coolants, antifreeze, cutting fluids and general industrial liquids. Unlike BOS it is not hydrophobic, which makes it the practical choice where water and oil are both present or where the fluid is predominantly water-based — workshop floors, equipment surrounds, aisles and storage areas for routine maintenance and general spill clean-up.
For routine equipment maintenance, should I choose MOS or BOS?
It depends on the fluid. If you are mainly dealing with cutting fluid, coolant, wash water or a mix of oil and water, choose MOS. If the spill is pure oil — particularly where you need to lift oil out of a wet environment — choose BOS. On cost, MOS is generally the more economical everyday consumable; the value of BOS lies in selective absorption, which cannot be substituted when working on water.
What is a drum-top absorbent pad used for?
The drum-top pad (MOS-DTP380, Ø55 cm, 25 pcs per carton, roughly 34 L/B) is a circular pad sized for the top of a 55-gallon drum. Laid over the drum head, it catches the drips generated during filling, drawing off, decanting and routine handling, preventing liquid from pooling on the lid and running down the drum onto the floor. It is used in chemical plants, hazardous goods storage, laboratories and production areas.
How should pads, rolls and pillows be used together?
Each format serves a different purpose. Pads (MOS-PAD, 40 cm × 50 cm) handle localised drips and bench clean-up and are easy to grab as needed. Rolls (MOS-MTR / MOS-LMTR, 40 cm × 50 m or 80 cm × 50 m) cover large floor areas and aisles and can be cut to length. Pillows (MOS-PIL, several sizes) are thick with concentrated capacity and are placed at persistent drip points such as valves, pipe joints and equipment bases. A typical site uses all three: rolls as the base layer, pillows at specific points, pads for ad-hoc clean-up.
What is the difference between composite (LMTR) and standard (MTR) rolls?
Composite rolls (MOS-LMTR) add a durable laminated top layer that resists tearing, foot traffic and linting, so they last longer in areas with frequent movement or vehicle passage. Standard rolls (MOS-MTR) have no wear layer: they are softer, wick faster and cost less per unit, which suits short-term deployment or non-traffic areas. Base the decision mainly on whether the material will be repeatedly walked or driven over.
