Leak-proof work mats use a composite construction: a nonwoven top layer absorbs and spreads the liquid, and a barrier film underneath stops it penetrating downward. They therefore both absorb the fluid and protect the surface below — flooring, track ballast or equipment. Ordinary absorbent pads have only an absorbent layer, and liquid may pass through once saturated. Choose a leak-proof mat whenever the substrate must stay clean or when working outdoors.
